Q:When is the first week of the Summer CSA, Fall CSA or Spring CSA?
A: The start date depends on the growing season. The Summer CSA begins sometime in Mid June. The Fall CSA begins sometime in mid October and the Spring CSA starts sometime in mid March. We will send the date of the first week of pickups/deliveries via the farm newsletter (including in the subject line) as soon as we have made the decision based on how the crops are growing that season. If you stop receiving the farm newsletter for some reason, be sure to re-sign up at the website link for the farm newsletter sign up. We typically send one out each week all year long so if you don’t get one for a couple of weeks your email may be bouncing it for some reason.
Q: What if I am going away for a week?
A: If you are going away for a week, make someone smile. You can have a friend, neighbor or family member take the basket for you that week. If you don’t have anyone to take the basket, email firstname.lastname@example.org the date you can’t pick up and we’ll arrange for the Fitzwilliam Nursing Association to distribute it to families that need a boost in town.
Q: Do you deliver to my area? (Delivery is only an option for Summer Shares)
A: We deliver to Dublin, Fitchburg, Fitzwilliam, Gardner, Harrisville, Jaffrey, Keene, Leominster/Lunenburg, Marlborough, Nelson, Peterborough, Richmond, Rindge, Swanzey, Troy, West Keene, Westminster, Winchendon. Call or email if your town isn’t included in this list to see what your options are.
Q: What if I can’t pick up on my delivery day 3:30 p.m.-9 p.m. (2:30-8 for Fall and Spring Shares) or the following day but I really want to pick up my basket?
A: No problem. Your basket will be on the back tables. No need to let us know. Please don’t leave it there for more than 5 days as things start to decompose. The sooner you pick up, the fresher your food will be.
Q: What if I’m not home when you deliver?
A: On the form, you explain a place out of the late afternoon sun when the basket is dropped off and out of the rain. That is where you leave the basket from the week before to be picked up.
Q: What if I can’t pay all at once?
A: For the summer share you can break up payments as needed as long as your share is paid in full by August 1st. For example, divide by 4 and pay once in January, March, May and July. Or divide by 2 and pay half in January and half in July. Fall share payments can be broken up so they are paid in full by October 31st. For example: Half in September and Half by October 31st. Spring share payments can be broken up so they are paid in full by April 18th e.g. half in February and half by April 18th.
Q: What if I don’t like something that is going in the basket?
A: Make someone smile and give it away! We also have a swap table in the barn for you to leave unwanted veggies for other customers who will happily take them.
Q: What if the single share is too much food for me?
A: Find a friend or family to share it with! The swap table is also available for any extra veggies that you don’t need but somebody else would want.
Q: What if I don’t get enough of one thing to make something because I have a smaller share?
A: Get creative and throw 2-3 vegetables that go good together to make a complete meal!
Or buy a larger share! You can also take from the swap table in the barn.
Q: What if I am only here during the summer and will miss the first or last baskets?
A: We can prorate your share for you, email us when you sign up or include a comment in your order form.
Q: What if we want to join after the season has begun?
A: As long as there are still shares available, we can prorate your share for when you join.
